Permanent Eyebrow After Care for Microblading, Powder Brows, Ombre Brows, and Combo Brows
Proper care following your procedure is important and required to achieve optimum results. Keep in mind that some intensity of color will be lost, and/or the color may heal unevenly. This is normal for some procedures, especially after the initial application. This is the reason for the follow up appointment, to fill in any light areas, to go a little darker or thicker if desired, and to adjust shape or color if needed. Please read and follow these directions:
Wash your hands before touching any treated area.
Flexible cool packs (not frozen or ice) may be used to help reduce swelling or discomfort. Dampen paper towels with water and place in the fridge for 30 minutes...cool area for 10 minutes then throw away. May repeat periodically. Cooling the area is most beneficial the first 24 hours. Sleeping slightly elevated may also help in the reduction of swelling.
Blotting your procedure. We have created a wound and all wounds weep or ooze body fluids (blood, oil, lymph). Some will weep more and for a longer period than others and some will not weep at all. I have applied a medical grade healing ointment that usually locks everything in and speeds up healing. However, if you do have some oozing/weeping, blotting off these fluids and excess pigment is critical to a good result and optimum color retention. If these fluids are allowed remain on the tattooed area and accumulate, you will get heavier scabbing. Heavy scabbing can pull out the pigment which will result in light spots and unevenness of color. If you have weeping, dampen a paper towel with water and blot your new procedure every 15 to 30 minutes upon leaving the spa. Continue until weeping has subsided. If you have eyebrow hair, please make sure you are getting beyond the hair and actually blotting the tattooed skin. Leave the ointment I applied on your skin until the following day when you will begin the cleansing and ointment regimen. (It is ok if ointment gets blotted off if you have weeping but make sure to apply more before bed if you have blotted it all off.)
Cleansing your procedure. Use the Recovery Tonic on gauze or cotton and blot on and around the procedure area. A little goes a long way. Recovery Tonic is a natural anti-microbial cleansing liquid. Allow to air dry.
If you run out of Recovery Tonic, Dial soap can be used for cleansing. Use a light touch (fingers only, no washcloths) while cleansing your procedure. Make sure you rinse off all cleanser leaving no residue then pat dry. Always wait 15 minutes before applying ointment after getting the procedure wet. Never put ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.
Showering - Do not take an exceptionally hot shower and keep bathroom doors open as to NOT cause a steam effect. Wash your face either avoiding procedure area. Do not let the shower spray hit you directly in the face. We have face shields you can use in the shower if you need those. Please ask us if you need any.
Ointment. ONLY USE THE HEALING BALM I PROVIDE FOR YOU …NOTHING ELSE!!! NO ointment until all weeping has stopped. Cleanse/blot gently with provided Recovery Tonic and apply a thin, light coat of Rapid Recovery Balm 2 to 3 times a day for two weeks post-procedure. Always blot off the prior ointment and area before applying new layer of ointment. Although it is important to use ointment, using it excessively can starve the skin of air and can result in pigment loss during the healing period so please use sparingly, just enough to moisten. ALLERGIC REACTION IS EXTREMELY RARE BUT POSSIBLE. IF YOU N. OTICE ANY BUMPS OR RASH OR THINK YOU MAY BE HAVING A REACTION TO THE OINTMENT…STOP USING OINTMENT IMMEDIATELY, CLEANSE AREA, AND CALL ME. Only use Bacitracin if you feel you have an infection.
Absolutely NO pet grooming, gardening, dusting, mud wrestling or anything that causes dust, dirt and dander for a minimum of 72 hours. Waiting 5 full days is best. NO EXERCISING FOR 10 DAYS…NO EXCEPTIONS. DO NOT DO ANY ACTIVITY THAT CAUSES SWEAT IN THE AREA OF THE PROCEDURE OR YOUR FACE TO HEAT UP AND TURN RED. ABSOLUTELY NO LAKE, BEACH OR POOL ACTIVITIES. NO HORSEBACK RIDING, NO CAMPING OR RIDING ATVS. NO NOTHING OF THIS SORT. DON’T’ DO IT! STAY OUT OF THE SUN! KEEP IT PROTECTED AND KEEP IT CLEAN! TLC FOR YOUR NEW PROCEDURE.
During your healing process DO NOT expose your new procedures to chemicals, hot tubs, saunas, direct shower spray, hot water, saltwater, chlorinated pools, lakes, or ponds. Direct sun exposure and tanning beds should be avoided indefinitely...both are counterproductive to the cosmetic procedure.
Absolutely NO topical makeup ON the healing procedure(s) for a minimum of 14 days. Topical makeup can be bacterial and your new procedures(s) need adequate time to heal to avoid irritation and/or infection. You may apply your makeup around the new procedure area but avoid applying ON the healing areas. No tweezing or waxing the eyebrows for 10 full days. NO FACIALS, PEELS OR ANY OF THAT FACE STUFF FOR TWO FULL WEEKS! BOTOX: YOUR BROWS SHOULD BE HEALED A MINIMUM OF 10 DAYS BEFORE ANY BOTOX APPLICATIONS IN THE AREA.
Some tenderness, puffiness (even bruising), redness, and itching is quite normal for the tattoo healing process. DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR SCRATCH the treated area as this could result in your color healing uneven, as well as the risk of scarring and infection.
Lastly...relax. Don’t worry about a thing. It is just a tattoo that will lighten, soften and heal in a matter of days. Do exactly as I have advised you to do OR what not to do and all heals well. Complications are extremely rare.
IF AT ANY POINT YOU THINK YOU MAY BE DEVELOPING AN INFECTION, CLEANSE THE AREA, APPLY BACITRACIN, AND CALL ME.
Healing Agenda
Day 1-3: Your eyebrows are about 15 to 20% darker than what they will heal to be. They will also appear thicker than what we drew on. This is due to oxidation and swelling. Do not be concerned with the darker, thicker appearance, this is part of the healing process. You may also have redness that will subside within the first 48 hours. You could experience a little tenderness and weeping in the area…all normal. Remember to start ointment after 24 to 48 hours (depending on how much you are weeping and when it slows down) and don’t forget to blot the area several times a day to remove the weeping fluids.
Day 4: The peeling begins. The dark outer color will start peeling off revealing the softer lighter color. Typically, the tail area of the brow will start peeling first with the bulb area of the brow the last area to fully peel. Keep moist but do not over do it. Don’t pick!
Day 5-8: Dark outer color finishes peeling off for most people. Some people might still have a little scabbing hanging on and that is normal for some people. The color is lighter and softer, and the brows themselves are a littler thinner. The color may have a grayish or ashy tone for a few days until the color clarifies. It could appear that you are missing color and have light areas at this time due to layers of dry skin over the new pigment. Give your eyebrows a full 4 weeks to heal and for color bloom and richen up. Do no use the ointment longer than 14 days.
Day 8-14: It will feel as though you are healed. Please continue to follow your after care as the deeper layer of tissue is still healing.
The Next 3 Weeks: This is what we call the “blooming” period. During this time all that dead, dry skin will slowly slough off and the color will start to richen up and lose the ashy appearance. You may experience some itchiness during this time which is totally normal for some people…it will subside.
All procedures are conducted in accordance with our local health department, governing agencies, and our own personal high standards. Once you leave my facility it is important to follow care instructions to avoid complications. Tenderness to the area is expected. This is a wound that must heal. Complications are extremely rare, however, if you observe any conditions that are not consistent with the healing agenda descriptions above, such as any sign of infection, pus, red streaks stemming from the treated area, irritation lasting more than two days, or abnormal discharge or conditions, contact your doctor for treatment and inform me as soon as possible. Thank you for choosing me as your cosmetic tattoo artist. I look forward to a long and wonderful relationship with you!
